Whilst editing our film and applying the titles, we came into a discussion within the group about the meaning of our current film title, 'Requiescat en Pace'.
Obviously, the titles means 'Rest In Peace' in Latin, however, we were not sure how this was relevant to our film, especially now as we can watch the entire piece back.
Overall, we did not mind the idea of the title mentioning or referring to death, however, this title seemed to ignore the element of romance and love which is a very prominent theme in our film. Also, the idea of the title being in Latin did not seem to serve any purpose and actually confused several members of audiences who had informally seen parts of our film in making.
We came up with an alternative, ''Til Death Us Do Part,' so that we could conduct a survey and offer people a choice. This name comes from the well-known phrase from the marriage liturgy from the Book of Common Prayer. Although the name did initially pose some queries as to the confusion with ''Til Death Do Us Part,' after some research we found that both were correct and the name drew many more similarities with our film. This is because the couple are married and are separated when she dies, and also the name was preferred unanimously by the people who took part in our survey.
