Next, I planned to conduct a survey that would be distributed amongst the viewers whilst they watch the film several times. Questions were all open and included:
- Was the narrative/content clear and understandable? If not, what were the issues you found?
- Were there any technical issues (sounds, camerawork, lighting, etc) that you spotted or that were particularly noticeable?
- Which aspects of the film did you find most enjoyable/effective?
- How would you rate the film out of 10?
Overall, around 40 audience members were present at the showing and each person filled out the survey, handed to them on A4 paper with sufficient writing space for each answer and a space for comments at the end.
Main points of feedback that we should consider improving included:
- At around 1:00, the camera shakes which is particularly obvious since the shot is also very long.
- At 3:35, there is the sound of a crow heard several times when it does not seem relevant to the scene.
- At 3:45 the camera jolts upwards, as if it has hit the ground mid-pan.
- At 4:10, it is not obvious who the Police Officer character is, there should be some kind of establishing shot or a shot of a police car.
- At 4:20, it is very hard to hear the Police Officer talking to David.
